Kelly Hrudey & Friends Charity Golf Classic Comes to the Columbia Valley
INVERMERE, B.C. – Copper Point Golf Club will host the Inaugural Kelly Hrudey & Friends Charity Golf Classic August 15 & 16 2012. Featuring 36 celebrity players, 108 tournament participants, and a public concert, the two-day event will raise awareness and funds for youth – including the Alberta Adolescent Recovery Centre (AARC) in Calgary, The Invermere Summit Youth Centre and the local Elementary & High School Hockey Academy.
“The Columbia Valley is well known for spectacular golf and is the perfect place to bring a group of friends together to celebrate our beautiful surroundings and support organizations focused on helping young people succeed,” said Hrudey. “These organizations are changing lives in their communities, and we’re honoured to support them.”
Already committed to the Golf Classic is Canadian entrepreneur and philanthropist W. Brett Wilson. “Both Kelly and I have been long time supporters of youth-related organizations, and in particular AARC,” said Wilson. “We’re looking forward to a fun event that benefits the Valley and supports families struggling with addiction and other youth issues.”
Catriona Le May Doan, Canada’s 1998 & 2002 Olympic Gold Medal winner Speed skater, will join the team of celebrities. “I am proud to be involved with this event to make sure that youth of our communities have the opportunity to be the best that they can be and realize their dreams.,”
